For nearly a decade, that story has been the Havana Syndrome: the systematic targeting of American intelligence officers, diplomats, and soldiers with a directed energy weapon that the U.S. government spent years denying existed.
I've interviewed more than 70 victims, reviewed classified medical records and intelligence reports, and tracked the movements of the Russian unit the evidence points to.
The Havana Syndrome: Secret Weapons, a Government Cover-Up, and the Greatest Spy Mystery of Our Time, co-written with Oriana Zill de Granados, is published by Crown/Penguin Random House on October 13, 2026, with a foreword by 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley.
Before this, I've reported on Cuban spy networks operating inside the United States, the Lance Armstrong doping scandal, and a range of investigations at the intersection of national security, government accountability, and the people who get caught in between.
I'm an Emmy and DuPont Award-winning producer. Before 60 Minutes, I was a senior producer at CBS Evening News and a founding member of the CBS News Investigative Unit.
